Soup Supper, Prayer, Lenten Service, Choir Rehersals

Last year the choir began a tradition of Lenten Soup Suppers, those going congregational this yearl. This is how they look:
1. Three families each donate a large pot of soup and three large loaves of bread each week to eliminate the usual All-Church Wednesday supper fees for the six weeks of Lent (February 29 through April 4th). Supper is served Wednesday nights at the usual time. A sign-up list is in the works...
2. Those usual supper fees (and any extra you wish to give!) are instead collected as an offering (alms) for those in need. The deacons have selected local ministries, specifically to the poor and needy, to focus on and update us on each week. They may also collect items from us for a given ministry (they'll let us know ahead of time).
3. Our prayer time to follow will be of a more penitential nature, focusing on personal, familial, corporate, and national sin.
4. Finally, we will spend a few minutes together in the sanctuary hearing a very short Lenten “homily” and praying for that supper's ministry, 7:00 to 7:20pm.
